Description

The meeting establishes a new planning framework for the Kubernetes Maintainer Summit at CubeCon EU 2026, shifting from past contributor summit operations to a CNCF-managed event with focused responsibilities on communications, meet and greet, and website management. Key roles are defined, and team members outline plans to ensure effective outreach, on-site engagement, and accurate event messaging.

Key Takeaways:
• Communications planning begins with a revised schedule, including registration reminders, schedule highlights, and meet and greet announcements, with messaging to be sent via email and Slack to designated lists 17:28-18:00.
• Meet and greet sessions will be held during lunch at the project pavilion, featuring SIG-specific tables with representation from SIG leads, and will include signage and directional shields provided by CNCF 39:06-43:14.
• Registration is now strictly enforced—no same-day registration; attendees must be maintainers, project members, or sponsored by a SIG lead to gain access 31:04-32:16.
• The team is forming a communications lead and shadow structure, with multiple volunteers encouraged to assist in drafting and reviewing messages, especially for non-English speakers 21:40-22:59.
• A one-hour "Ask Kubernetes Contributors Anything" session will take place on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. CET, hosted at the project pavilion stage, with a mixed group of volunteers to ensure diverse perspectives 46:52-47:50.

The event marks a transition from a Kubernetes-specific summit to a broader CNCF ecosystem gathering, with the community team focusing on targeted outreach and on-site engagement to maintain contributor visibility and participation.
