Source: YouTube · Hidden True Crime · published Jun 17, 2024 · 1:49:38
The video discusses Micah Miller's death, which police ruled as self-harm, while highlighting evidence suggesting she was a victim of coercive control and domestic abuse by her husband, Pastor John Paul (JP) Miller 5:20-5:26.
Key Takeaways:
• The system often fails to recognize patterns of coercive control, especially in cases involving self-harm 3:07-3:20
• JP exhibited controlling behavior during his announcement of Micah's death, telling his congregation not to discuss her death while asking them to continue giving money 8:00-8:04
• JP has an extensive history of alleged crimes including stalking, sexual abuse with minors, violence, theft, and drug coercion that were never properly investigated or prosecuted 28:30-46:03
• "Micah's Law" is being developed to criminalize coercive control in South Carolina, similar to laws already in place in the UK 4:47-5:02
The case demonstrates the urgent need for better recognition of coercive control and domestic abuse patterns in our legal system.
