Description

Katarina Marikova, a cybersecurity researcher at Seaman's Health, explains the urgent need for quantum-resistant healthcare systems as quantum computers will eventually break current asymmetric encryption 0:06.

Key Takeaways:
• Medical devices with long lifecycles (MRI, CT machines) face highest risk from "harvest now, decrypt later" quantum attacks 3:26-4:55
• Quantum computers capable of breaking encryption may arrive around 2040, necessitating immediate preparation 6:53-7:28
• Healthcare organizations need to create cryptographic bills of materials (seabboms) to identify vulnerable algorithms across their systems 14:44-15:00
• Implementation of post-quantum cryptography requires careful testing as it can cause communication failures due to larger key sizes 10:29-11:11

Healthcare providers must prioritize transitioning high-risk systems first while developing comprehensive cryptographic inventories to ensure long-term patient data security 24:20-24:23.

Hello everybody, welcome to my talk. Today I am going to share with you my takes on quantum resistant healthcare. My name is Katarina Marikova and currently I am a cyber security researcher in seaman's health. I have been uh working for seaman's health for four years now. However, my very beginnings of meddling with the computers date back to early 2000s when I was three or four years old and I was just playing this game of Alladin on a on an old Windows 98 machine and I was talking to Clippy whenever I got a chance and I still do talk to him today. I have him 3D printed on my desk and he's the best debugging buddy. But on a more serious note, uh how does one um transition from being a child meddling with computers, playing computer games to being a cyber security researcher? Well, it has …
